We will play our natural game: Rani

New Delhi, 26 March 2015: To give tough competition to the opponents in the fast approaching Hawke’s Bay Cup 2015, scheduled from 11th – 19th April in New Zealand, the Indian women’s hockey team is working hard on their inherited hockey skills and natural game at the ongoing preparatory camp at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. The FIH Ranked 13th team are making their basic skills strong and striving to build their strength on their natural game.

In the preparatory camp, which commenced on 22nd March and will conclude on 7th April, all the players are strengthening their natural skills and rectifying the mistakes as the whole team believe that the top teams can only be out-performed by acute game and flawless teamwork. Forward players like Rani, who has performed brilliantly in the recently concluded Hero Hockey World League Round 2 (Women), rely on quick-passing and dribbling skills of the players, which make her work easy to keep hitting on the goal-box and pressurise opponent teams.

Speaking from the sideline of the preparatory camp, Rani stated, “The Hawke’s Bay Cup 2015 tournament will be very tough tournament for us as the best hockey teams are participating in the tournament and they will even look at utilising their full strength prior to the Hockey World League Semi-Finals in June 2015. We are working on various departments of our game and focussing on our own natural game. We believe that instead of experimenting on too many strategies, we are making strategies on the basis of our skills and natural game. If we manage to take our own skills to the next level, we can out-perform our opponents. At the end of the day, flawless passing and quick-counter attack win the matches. We are practising hard on our games and skills, if everything goes as per the plan.”
