-Hockey India congratulate Vandana for achieving this milestone

New Delhi, 24 July 2014: Indian Women Hockey team’s forward player, Vandana Katariya completed her 100th international cap today while playing against Canada during India’s opening match in the 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow. Known for her agility on the field Vandana has added the much required depth in the line-up since she has started playing for India.

Speaking on Vandana’s accomplishment, Dr. Narinder Batra, Secretary General, Hockey India said “Hockey India is proud of Vandana today for reaching this feat and also for her contribution to the team. She has been consistent all throughout and she has made us take pride with her performances in the past. Wishing her all the best and look forward to  more such contributions from her in the future”.

Currently with 19 international goals to her credit, Vandana achieved a hat trick against Russia, where India routed Russia 10-1 to enter the quarterfinals of the Women’s Junior Hockey World Cup, Germany in 2013 where India had won historic bronze medal. In the same year she was also part of the Indian team for the 8th Women’s Asia Cup 2013 held at Malaysia where India bagged the bronze and the 3rd Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2013, Japan with India winning the silver.
