New Delhi, 14 January 2014: Germany Team rigorously practiced today at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium and worked on the improvement areas.  Utilizing the Rest day to polish their skills and to gear up for the upcoming matches, they seemed to be taking a detailed practice session.

Speaking on the sidelines of the upcoming match against Netherlands, Team Captain Oliver Korn said, “To put up a good show, we will have to be very patient in our defence and play good hockey against the Netherlands team. Our strategy would be to break their counter attack. We will have to play tactically, as, there are really strong players in their team, especially in the front line. Among the other teams, Australia, Netherlands and Argentina are good competitors. From here on, anyone can win the game, and we will put in our best efforts to play well and come out as a strong team.”

About the team

2013 has been another great year for Germany. Building on an incredible 2012 which saw the side become Olympic champions for the second time in succession, the team coached by Markus Weise powered to glory at the Tri-Finance Euro Hockey Nations Continental Championship before taking a first place finish  at The Hockey World League Semi Final in Johor Bahru. They will be hoping for even more success in 2014 and you wouldn’t beat against them achieving it.  A first place finish in the Hockey World League Final would be the perfect preparation for their World Cup title challenge.
