Under the slogan “Watch Surjit Hockey- Win Alto Car & Listen Diljit Dosanjh” Surjit Hockey Society is offering Maruti Alto Car as a prize for the spectators of the 30th Indian Oil Surjit Hockey Tournament starting from 9 October at Surjit Hockey Stadium, Burlton Park in Jalandhar. The organisers have engaged singer and Punjabi film actor Diljit Dosanjh for attracting maximum viewers to the matches.

The car has been sponsored by USA based Tutt brother, a leading farmer & transporter family there. Mr. Ranbir Singh Tutt handed over the keys of the Maruti Alto Car to Mr. Varun Roozam, Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar who is also President of Surjit Hockey Society and Mr. Iqbal Singh Sandhu, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Jalandhar- and Secretary of the Society.

Mr. Varun Roozam, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar who has recently taken over as the President of Surjit Hockey Society said that Society has done an excellent job to uplift the game of hockey and to create interest amongst the general public towards it. He further said that in this 10 days hockey bonanza, apart from the cash prizes to be given in lacs to the players, the spectators, who will come to witness the tournament matches will also get prizes like Car, motorcycles, refrigerators etc. Mr. Roozam said that the spectators will get daily lucky coupons till 18 October 2013 at the entry gate of the stadium while players/officials will be issued the lucky coupons on the day of their first match. The lucky draw for the ALTO and other prizes will be held soon after the final whistle of the final match, Mr. Roozam added.

The organising Secretary of the tournament Mr. Iqbal Singh Sandhu, PCS, SDM, Jalandhar-I said that no gate money shall be charged from the spectators who will come to witness the hockey matches. World Famous Punjabi Folk Singh and Actor Mr. Diljit Dosanjh will entertain the spectators from 5.30 onwards, before the start of final match on October 18.
