New Delhi, December 26, 2013 – Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the Hero Hockey India League, shot the ad-campaign featuring Delhi Wave Riders’ star players Sardar Singh and Rupinder Pal Singh at New Delhi’s landmark location Jantar Mantar on December 26, 2013. This is part of the marketing blitz that Star Sports plans to launch to promote Hero Hockey India League which starts from January 25, 2014.

Hero Hockey India League will see world’s best hockey players playing in diverse cities across the country. Star Sports is therefore shooting the marketing campaign across all six team cities to build team affinity and local pride. The campaign will show star players of all the teams showcasing their hockey skills with the most iconic location of the city/ region in the backdrop.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Juju Basu, Head of Communications for Sports Business, Star India, said, “The core idea behind the campaign is to get India’s hockey playing regions to celebrate the game that’s been a part of their culture for decades. The campaign is therefore based out of the regions that the teams are from, using iconic backdrops and elements from their hockey heritage.”

Besides the Delhi Wave Riders shoot, the plan is to shoot Dabur Mumbai Magicians team playing Hockey in a Mumbai local train; Ranchi Rhinos ad-campaign will be shot with star players playing at Dassan Falls, Jharkhand.  The campaign featuring Kalinga Lancers’ players will be shot at the Odisha Beach while players from the Uttar Pradesh Wizards will be shot playing Hockey in the lanes of Varanasi. The star players of Jaypee Punjab Riders team will shoot in Amritsar with the Golden Temple as the back drop.
