–         India book their berth for the Final of the Tournament

New Delhi, 4 November 2013: The Indian Women Hockey registered their second consecutive win in the 3rd Women’s Asian Champions Trophy to book their berth for the final. India overcome Malaysia 5-1 in their second match played at Kakamigahara, Japan today.

Malaysia took the lead in the 15th minute through skipper Nadia Abdul Rahman via a penalty corner. India hit back strong in the 24th minute as Poonam Rani converted a penalty corner. Both the teams were locked at 1-1 at half time.

India dominated the second half of the game and played incredible attacking hockey, scoring four goals through Namita Toppo (44th minute), Ritu Rani (52nd minute), Amandeep Kaur (54th minute) and Deep Grace Ekka (65th minute).

Earlier, India defeated China 4-2 in their opening match of the tournament.

India will now take on Japan on 7 November 2013.

In the other match of the day, Japan defeated China 5-1 to book their place in the final against India.
