Bengaluru, 26 April 2016: The semifinals of the Women National Championship B Division were played out today.

In the first match AIU thrashed Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu 6-1. Anjali gautam scored a hat trick (4’, 20’, 29) and Manisha Dhawal scored a brace (3’, 60’) for AIU in their thumping victory. Tamilnadu’s lone goal was scored in the 35th minute by K Kalavathi.

In the second semifinal Hockey Gangpur Odisha took on Chhattisgarh Hockey for a place in the final. Gangpur opened the scoring in the 25th minute via Rojita Kujur and soon took an unassailable 4-0 lead via goals from Rojita Kujur (25′), Rinki Kujur (31’), Namrat Jasmin Bara (46’) and Laxmi Ekka (48’). Chhattisgarh hit back with two quick goals in the end via Pooja Yadav (52’) and Rushali Kashyap (56’) but Gangpur held on for a win and a place in the finals.

This first-of-its-kind domestic league promises to be a thrilling showcase of the nation's top female hockey talent.
