Jabalpur, 16 January 2019:  The Quarter-Finals of the 9th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2019 (B Division) took place here today which saw Hockey Patiala, Bengaluru Hockey Association, Namdhari XI and Punjab National Bank, register victories in their respective matches to progress to the Semi-Finals of the competition.

Hockey Patiala beat Hockey Bhopal 6-1 in the first Quarter-Final of the day. The team completely dominated the proceedings right from the start with ample support by the team’s forward line. It was Gurveer Singh (49′, 50′, 52′) who starred for Hockey Patiala with a fine hat-trick while Rahul (3′, 59′) scored twice and Jarmanjeet Singh (22′) too scored in Hockey Patiala’s fine victory. Meanwhile, for Hockey Bhopal, Sameer Ahmed (30′) scored the lone goal.

Meanwhile in the second Quarter-Final, Bengaluru Hockey Association continued their impressive performance into the knockout stage as they remained unbeaten in the tournament so far. The team led by SN Deekshith beat Hockey Madhya Bharat 2-0 in a closely-fought match. Goals for the winning team were scored by Arjun Mallik (20′) and Rajan S Pandia (55′).

The third Quarter-Final saw Namdhari XI produce a stunning display to defeat Bengal Hockey Association 5-1. Namdhari XI started the match brightly and scored four goals inside the first 35 minutes to stamp their authority. Goals for Namdhari XI were scored by Anil (13′, 35′), Akashdeep Singh (6′), Hanspal Singh (31′) and Princepal  Singh (56′) while Raja Rajabhar (38′) scored Bengal Hockey Association’s solitary goal.

In the fourth Quarter-Final, it was Punjab National Bank who came out on top against Hockey Madhya Pradesh by a margin of 2-0. Goals for Punjab National Bank came in the second and third quarter with Kuldeep (19′) and Sagar Nanda (33′) getting their names on the score-sheet to help their team progress to the Semi-Final.

1st Semi-Final – 0930hrs – Hockey Patiala v Bengaluru Hockey Association
