Hisar (Haryana), 07 February 2019: The Quarter Finals of the 9th Hockey India Senior Women National Hockey Championship 2019 (B Division) took place here on Thursday at the Astroturf International Hockey Stadium which saw Hockey Chandigarh, Steel Plant Sports Board, Sports Authority of India and UCO Bank Women’s Hockey Academy win their respective matches to advance to the Semi Finals of the competition.

In the first Quarter Final, it was Hockey Chandigarh who defeated Assam Hockey by an emphatic margin of 8-0. Goals for Hockey Chandigarh were scored by Anu (3′, 24′), Lakhwinder Kaur (11, 27′), Manju (41′, 50′), Captain Shweta (45′) and Sarabdeep Kaur (56′) as they secured their place in the Semi Finals.

The second Quarter Final saw Steel Plant Sports Board produce a solid 2-0 victory over Hockey Bihar to advance to the Semi Finals. It was Steel Plant Sports Board’s Mayuri Rai who scored the first goal for her team in the 50th minute, while Shailja Kumari Gautam scored the second in the 52nd minute to secure a 2-0.

The third Quarter Final saw Sports Authority of India defeat Hockey Himachal by a big margin of 9-0 to secure their Semi Final spot. Goals for Sports Authority of India came thick and fast throughout the match and were scored by Pramila Sorena (3′, 10′, 19′, 24′), Sonia (48′, 55′), Anima Tiru (30′), Monika Sihag (33′) and Binita Tirkey (45′).

The fourth and last Quarter Final was won by UCO Bank Women’s Hockey Academy as they beat The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd. by a margin of 6-3 in a high-scoring encounter. The scores in the match were tied at 1-1 after 13 minutes, but UCO Bank Women’s Hockey Academy utilized their chances well in the remaining minutes to take a 6-2 lead after 53 minutes, while The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd. could only score their third goal in the 59th minute to lost 3-6. Goals for UCO Bank Women’s Hockey Academy were scored by Pratiksha Parmar (50′, 52′), Rajni Maan (3′), Manishal Dhayal (22′), Sonia Devi (41′) and Deepti (53′), while Captain Madhvi Patil (13′, 48′) and Chaitrali Gawde (59′) scored the goals for The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd.
