Bengaluru, 1 May 2016: MP Hockey Academy took on Hockey Odisha and Railways took on Punjab on the final day of the Hockey India Women National Championship A Division.

In the opening encounter, MP beat Odisha in the third place play off 2-1. MP opened the scoring in the 12th minute via Ishika Chaudhary and then doubled their lead in the second quarter on the back of a goal by Karishma Singh. Odisha hit back with a PC conversion by Asmita Barla in the 40th minute, but couldn’t find the equaliser, giving MP the win and a third place finish at the Nationals.

Railways took on Punjab in the finals. It took until the second half for the first goal to be scored and it went to Railways when Ritusha Kumari Arya scored in the 34thminute to give them the lead. Punjab nulled that almost from the restart via Hardeep Kaur. With the game seemingly headed towards a shootout, Railways’ Navneet Kaur converted a stroke in the 54th minute to give them the lead and doubled it with another stroke in the 57th minute to give Railways the victory and the Nationals title.
