Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh), 22 June 2019: Action in the 9th Hockey India Sub-Junior Men National Championship 2019 (B Division) continued on Saturday into its sixth day which saw Chhattisgarh Hockey, Hockey Madhya Bharat, Hockey HIM, Hockey Uttarakhand and Telangana Hockey register victories in their respective Pool matches.

In Pool A, Chhattisgarh Hockey beat Hockey Jammu and Kashmir 14-0 as Captain Tarun Yadav (2′, 5′, 22′, 48′, 60′), Sameer Yadav (25′, 53′, 57′), Ritesh Suryavanshi (28′, 54′), Arjun Yadav (19′), Sonu Nishad (20′), Nikhil Kumar Bhoi (30′), Sagar Yadav (33′) scored for Chhattisgarh Hockey.

In the second match of the day, Hockey Madhya Bharat defeated Hockey Gujarat 11-2 in Pool A. Captain Irbaz Khan (3′, 12′, 30′, 58′), Arbaz Khan (29′, 48′, 57′), Yuvraj Chavhan (14′), Mohit Karma (37′), Ajay Dangi (47′), Ghanshyam Yadav (54′) scored for Hockey Madhya Bharat while Devang Thokar (20′) and Ajay Baria (60′) scored for Hockey Gujarat.

In Pool D, Hockey HIM beat Hockey Coorg 5-0 as Gautam Paswan (56′, 59′), Captain Dhananjay Prajapti (43′), Neeraj Kumar Yadav (57′), Javed Ansari (58′) scored for Hockey HIM.

In the fourth match of the day, Hockey Uttarakhand defeated Hockey Mizoram 4-0 in Pool D. Faiz Hasan (44′, 56′), Rupesh Kumar (40′) and Captain Shahanawaz Hasan (47′) scored for Hockey Uttarakhand.

Pool D’s last match of the day saw Telangana Hockey beat Andhra Hockey Association 4-3 as Shekhar Lavudya (8′, 11′), Dharam Veer Chand Bhavani (6′) and Sandeep Naik Jarapla (57′) scored for Telangana Hockey while Akhil Venkat N (23′), Captain Sumanth M (43′) and Prasanth C (47′) scored for Andhra Hockey Association.

Ropni Kumari, Indian Women’s Hockey Team defender, looked back on the previous year and explained how consistent opportunities to play with the Indian Junior Women's Hockey Team have contributed to her development. The 19-year-old was part of the team that claimed the Gold medal at the Women's Junior Asia Cup 2023 and also travelled with the team to Dusseldorf, Germany for the 2023 4 Nations Junior Women's Invitational Tournament. Ropni was also a key player for the side at the 2023 FIH Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile and played in all six games.
