Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh), 19 June 2019: Action in the 9th Hockey India Sub-Junior Men National Championship 2019 (B Division) continued on Wednesday into its third day which saw Hockey Madhya Bharat, Citizen Hockey XI, Hockey HIM, Hockey Uttarakhand and Andhra Hockey Association register victories in their respective Pool matches.

In Pool A, Hockey Madhya Bharat beat Hockey Jammu and Kashmir 1-0 as Captain Irbaz Khan (30’) scored for Hockey Madhya Bharat.

In Pool B, Citizen Hockey XI defeated Hockey Puducherry 6-1 as Abhinandan Bharadwaj (15’, 19’), Sachin (31’, 49’), Hifazat Ali Shah (41’, 57’) scored for Citizen Hockey XI, while Captain S Gurumoorthi (37’) scored for Hockey Puducherry.

In Pool D, Hockey HIM beat Telangana Hockey 9-0 as Neeraj Kumar Yadav (13’, 32’, 51’, 55’, 57’), Javed Ansari (7’), Vipul Saini (9’), Sagar Nanda (10’) and Captain Dhananjay Prajapti (26’) scored in Hockey HIM’s victory.

In the other Pool D match, Hockey Uttarakhand beat Hockey Coorg 4-1 as Captain Rishu Kumar (35’, 51’), Suraj Negi (7’) and Raj Thapliyal (32’) scored for Hockey Uttarakhand, while Darshan Ponnanna P T (26’) scored for Hockey Coorg.

Pool D’s last match of the day saw Andhra Hockey Association defeat Hockey Mizoram 4-1 as Durga Surya Prasad A (6’, 20’), Tharun Kumar Patcha (46’) and Chandra Mouli P (49’) scored for Andhra Hockey Association while Captain Lalruatdika (50’) scored for Hockey Mizoram.

Ropni Kumari, Indian Women’s Hockey Team defender, looked back on the previous year and explained how consistent opportunities to play with the Indian Junior Women's Hockey Team have contributed to her development. The 19-year-old was part of the team that claimed the Gold medal at the Women's Junior Asia Cup 2023 and also travelled with the team to Dusseldorf, Germany for the 2023 4 Nations Junior Women's Invitational Tournament. Ropni was also a key player for the side at the 2023 FIH Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile and played in all six games.
