Aurangabad (Maharashtra), 19 February 2019: Action in the 9th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2019 (A Division) continued here at the Sports Authority of India Campus on Tuesday into its third day which saw Hockey Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, Hockey Odisha and Hockey Bihar register victories in their respective Pool matches, while Uttar Pradesh Hockey and Hockey Karnataka drew their Pool C match.

In Pool A, Hockey Chandigarh beat Hockey Himachal by a fine margin of 7-2 to register their second win of the competition. Goals for Hockey Chandigarh were scored by Hapreet Singh (9′, 25′), Amandeep (28′, 57′), Yashdeep Goyel  (19′), Sukhjeet Singh (38′) and Sukhman Singh (45′), while Vashu Dev (40′) and Charanjeet Singh (54′) scored for Hockey Himachal.

In Pool B, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy registered their first win of the competition as they beat The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd. 6-1. Vikas Rajak (4′, 43′), Mohd. Alishan (16′, 20′), Priyobata Talem (10′) and Adarsh Hardua (23′) scored the goals for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, while The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd.’s only goal of the match was scored in the 53rd minute by Mohit Kathoute.

In Pool C’s only match of the day, it was Uttar Pradesh Hockey and Hockey Karnataka who played out a 2-2 draw to share the points. Uttar Pradesh Hockey’s lead was cancelled out twice by Hockey Karnataka as Sharda Nand Tiwari (25′) and Shivam Anand (40′) scored for Uttar Pradesh Hockey, while Ajith V.M. (37′) and Sathwik HR (51′) scored for Hockey Karnataka.

In Pool D, Hockey Odisha registered their first win of the competition as they beat Punjab & Sind Bank by a slim margin of 1-0. The only goal of the match came  in the 23rd minute when Captain Krishna Tirkey scored for Hockey Odisha through a Penalty Corner.

In the other Pool D match, Hockey Bihar won their opening match of the competition as they beat Steel Plant Sports Board 2-1. Goals for Hockey Bihar were scored by Sachin Dungdung (34′) and Sanchit Horo (51′), while Steel Plant Sports Board’s only goal was scored by Rajat Minz in the 29th minute.
