Imphal, 14 May 2016: On the first day of the Sub Junior Men National Championship A Division, the opening match of Pool B saw Hockey Haryana taking on Hockey Punjab. The high-voltage clash between the two heavyweights finished 3-2 in favour of Haryana. Goals for Haryana were scored by Roman (7’), Sunny Mailk (14’) and Bhanu Sharma (67’). Karajwinder Singh scored a brace (23’, 34’) for Punjab.
In Pool A’s opener Manipur Hockey beat Hockey Patiala 8-2. Ibungo Kone Jengbam scored a hat trick (12’, 14’, 67’) and Laishram Dipu scored a brace (64’, 66’) in their victory.
Uttar Pradesh Hockey beat Hockey Odisha 3-0 in Pool A. Vishal Thakur scored a hat trick (34’, 49, 69’) in their victory.
