New Delhi, 28 April 2013: Defending champion Railways booked their berth in the semi-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Women National Championship at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in the Guru Govind Singh Sports College on Sunday.

Scoring thrice in each half, defending champions Railways defeated Uttar Pradesh 6-1 to become the first team to enter semi-finals.

Jasjeet Kaur scored the opening goal for Railways in the 7th minute. Host Uttar Pradesh tried to reduce the margin in the 9th minute with the field goal scored by Pratibha Chaudhary. Three minutes later Amandeep Kaur scored another goal to give Railways 2-1 lead.

After getting 2-1 lead over the hosts, Railways started their attacking game and denied any scoring chance to their opponents. Roselin Dung Dung scored field goal for Railways in the 23rd minute. Another goal scorers for Railways were Laurenua Kerketta (44 min) and Binita Xess (51 min) and Jasjeet Kaur (59 min).

Haryana also joined the defending champion Railways who earlier defeated Uttar Pradesh to book their berth for the semi-finals.

Haryana defeated Sports Authority of India 4-1 in the second quarter-final played here.

Goal scorers for Haryana were Jyoti Sharma (8 minute), Narinder (10 minute), Monika Dahiya (17 minute), Bharti (61 minute) while Binita Kindu (50 minute) scored the only goal for Sports Authority of India.
