New Delhi, 28 April 2013: Punjab scored a hard fought 2-1 win against Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy to enter the semi-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Women National Championship at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in the Guru Govind Singh Sports College on Sunday.

In the semi-finals to be played on Monday, Jharkhand take on defending champion Railways while Haryana will clash with Punjab.

After conceding an early goal Punjab find their rhythm and flow in the second half of the game scoring two goals through Lalremruati in the 53 and 66 minute. Preeti scored the only goal for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy in the 15th minute.

In the third semi-final played earlier, Jharkhand muscled past Karnataka 7-1 to set up a mouth-watering semi-final clash with defending champion Railways.

Jharkhand who led 4-1 at the half time scored through Sarita Lakra (3, 41 min), Shilwanti Minjur (7, 25 min), Ebha Kerketta (10 min), Mukta Mundu (49 min), Nisha Rani (67 min) while Chaitra KC (15 min) scored the only goal for Karnataka.

In the first quarter-final match defending champions Railways defeated Uttar Pradesh 6-1 while Haryana beat Sports Authority of India 4-1 in the second quarter-final played here.

Quarter-final 3- Jharkhand 7 (Sarita Lakra 3, 41, Shilwanti Minjur 7, 25, Ebha Kerketta 10, Mukta Mundu 49, Nisha Rani 67) beat Haryana 1 (Chaitra KC (15))

Quarter-final 4- Punjab 2 (Lalremruati 53, 66) beat MPHA 1 (Preeti 15)
