New Delhi, 6 June 2013: Punjab, Haryana and Sports Authority of India entered the quarter-finals of the 3rd Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2013 played at Moti Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Rai in Sonepat on Thursday.

Parvinder Singh and Gurjant Singh scored twice each as Punjab defeated Jharkhand 7-2 in their last league match of Pool A. Punjab scored through Harsahib Singh (2 min), Parvinder Singh (5, 67 min), Gurjant Singh (11, 15 min), Lovepreet Singh (17 min) and Ajit Pandit (64 min) while Mangra Bhengra (37 min) and Sumanta Hemrom (48 min) scored for Jharkhand.

In the other match of Pool A, Mumbai Hockey Association limited outclassed Kerala 8-1 in their concluding league match. Vishnu VV and Swaraj T scored two goals each for Mumbai Hockey Association limited to register their second win in the championship.

The host Haryana qualified for the quarter-finals as they routed Chhattisgarh 9-2. Haryana scored through Gurpreet Singh (11 min), Nikhil (35, 40, 49, 52 min), Lovepreet Singh (38 min), Sunil (46 min), Pawan (47 min) and Karanbir (60 min) while Taufik (51 min) and Vinay (58 min) scored for Chhattisgarh.

In the other match of Pool C, Bengal drew 1-1 with Mizoram.

Sports Authority of India registered their third consecutive win in Pool E, as they defeated Rajasthan 14-0 to enter the quarterfinals. Sandeep Kumar Singh scored maximum four goals for Sports Authority of India.

In the other match of Pool E, Karnataka beat Manipur 3-1.

Hockey India congratulates PR Sreejesh on being appointed Co-Chair of the FIH Athletes Committee

The International Hockey Federation, on Wednesday, announced the appointment of the new FIH Athletes Committee, to be led by Co-Chairs Camila Caram of Chile and PR Sreejesh of India. While Camila Caram has been assigned Co-Chair and Athletes Committee Representative in the Executive Board, Indian Men's Hockey Team goalkeeper PR Sreejesh is the Co-Chair and he will lead the planning and meetings along with Caram.
