Railway Sports Promotion Board white-washed Delhi Hockey 11-0 

– Hockey Odisha outwits Hockey Maharashtra 5-0 

– Hockey Haryana registers a big win against Hockey Himachal, beats them 14-0 

– Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy wins 4-2 against Sports Authority of India 

Saifai (Uttar Pradesh), 29 April 2015: Another four nerve-wrecking clashes were witnessed at the 5th Senior Women National Championship 2015- Div A being played at Saifai, Uttar Pradesh today.

The day started on a high with Railway Sports Promotion Board registering its first victory of the day against Delhi Hockey 11-0. Hockey Odisha defeated Hockey Maharashtra and posted a convincing win 5-0. The third match witnessed Hockey Haryana sealing their fate with a 14-0 victory over fragile Hockey Himachal. The day concluded on a winning note for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy who beat Sports Authority of India with a narrow 4-2. 

In the first match of the day, Railway Sports Promotion Board declared a thumping 11-0 win over Delhi Hockey. The entire match was dominated by Railway Sports Promotion Board who did not give any scoring prospects to Delhi Hockey. It was Anupa Barla who broke the shackles in the 18th minute and took the initial lead for Railway Sports Promotion Board 1-0. Another excellent goal came from the stick of Deep Grace Ekka who utilized the penalty corners in the 23rd and 48th minute to breach the opponent’s defence. As Railway Sports Promotion Board went into an immediate attack, it was Anuradha Devi Th.and Soundaraya Yendala who struck 26th and 32nd minute goal respectively and went into the half time with a 4-0 lead. While, Railway Sports Promotion Board wasted no time in getting their offense going in the second half, Delhi Hockey made desperate attempts to open their account but all their efforts went in vain. Without stopping of their goal scoring spree, Anuradha Devi Th. stood tall to convert two goals in 37th and 55th minute which was followed by a beautiful field goal by Anupa Barla who managed to take the lead to 6-0. Trailing by six goals, Lilima Minz’s endless efforts resulted in favour of Railway Sports Promotion Board that added three more goals to the tally before declaring a remarkable 11-0 win over Delhi Hockey.

In a well- contested match played between Hockey Odisha and Hockey Maharashtra of Pool A, it was the former who stamped a victory over the latter with a 5-0 on board. While both the teams made crucial efforts to open their scorecard, it was Hockey Odisha who started their proceedings in the early five minutes of the game through Majhi Nilprojita. As the teams failed to add any further goals in the first half, the score card read 1-0. The second half of the game witnessed intense action coming from the side of Hockey Odisha who added the second goal to the scoreboard in the 36th with the support of Dipti Lakra’s penalty corner conversion. Not looking to give up, Hockey Maharashtra tried to convert scoring opportunities but did not succeed and it was Khusbu Kujur who made good use of the penalty corner and converted it in the 50th minute taking the lead further at 3-0. Hockey Odisha got another reason to celebrate as two quick goals were scored by Seema Lakra and Jira Ekka in the 56th and 59th minute respectively and sealing a 5-0 win over Hockey Maharashtra.

Hockey Haryana was on a rampage while facing Hockey Himachal today as they registered 11 goals in the first half itself. This was helped by a hat-trick by Devika Sen and a brace by Pooja which helped the team take a strong position in the match. Hockey Haryana opened its account as early as the 3rd minute when Monika Dahiya scored through field goal. This was followed by Monika registering the team’s second goal in the very next minute. 7th, 8th and 9th minute witnessed three back to back goals by the team coming from the sticks of Jaspreet Kaur, Devika Sen and Pooja. Pooja was seen in action again in the 11th minute as she capitalized on a penalty corner. Leading the game 6-0, Hockey Haryana added five more goals to the score tally before the end of first half and the scores read 11-0 in their favor. Coming into the second half, Hockey Himachal beefed their defence and ensured that Hockey Haryana doesn’t score easy goals. But this did not deter the determination of Hockey Haryana as they scored three more goals before ending the game in their favour.

Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy taking on Sport Authority of India played a dominating match as they won 4-2 against Sports Authority of India. Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy started the game with speed as they went on to score the first goal in the 14th minute when Captain Reena Khokhar scored through a field effort. In the 24th minute the team registered their second goal as Preeti Dubey scored a brilliant goal and the half time scores stood at 2-0. Immediately into the second half, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy added one more to the goal tally in the 35th minute as Reena Khokhar scored her second individual goal. Looking at opening their account Sports Authority of India scored in the 36th minute as Priya Rai converted the penalty corner opportunity. Here on both teams added one goal each before Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy took the win 4-2.

The International Hockey Federation, on Wednesday, announced the appointment of the new FIH Athletes Committee, to be led by Co-Chairs Camila Caram of Chile and PR Sreejesh of India. While Camila Caram has been assigned Co-Chair and Athletes Committee Representative in the Executive Board, Indian Men's Hockey Team goalkeeper PR Sreejesh is the Co-Chair and he will lead the planning and meetings along with Caram.
