New Delhi, 28 July 2015: Post a 3rd position finish at the Volvo Invitational U-21 (Women) Tournament 2015, the Indian Women Jr. Hockey team arrived in the midst of great fanfare as family, friends and fans awaited the teams arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. The team playing for the 3rd / 4thposition against England were locked 1-1 at the end of the match’s regulation time. What transpired in the penalty shoot-out left many awestruck as the Indian Goalkeeper, Inderpreet Kaur stood like a wall and did not allow a single goal to be scored during the crucial phase resulting in India’s win for the 3rd position in the tournament.

On arrival, a happy Captain, Rani Rampal said “The team is very happy with the final results. We were always aiming for the top 3 during the entire tournament and we made it. I will give credit to Inderpreet Kaur whose presence of mind and alertness during the penalty shootout helped us win the match. The tournament will help us build ourselves further ahead of the 7th Women’s Junior Asia Cup”.

Speaking on the team’s performance, Coach NS Saini said “It’s a great finish to the tournament. It’s is amazing the way Indrerpreet Kaur kept her nerves during the crucial Penalty Shoot-out and ensured that she did not allow a single goal to be scored. She is someone to look out for in the future and I am happy we have a quality goalkeeper in her. Overall we delivered in all departments in the last match which helped us grab this position in the tournament”.

Ropni was also a key player for the side at the 2023 FIH Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile and played in all six games.
