New Delhi, 25 February 2015: Subsequent to a successful tour of Spain, the Indian Women Hockey Team arrived early morning today at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. The ecstatic eves were given a warm welcome and were received wholeheartedly by Hockey India, their friends and relatives at the airport.

The Indian Women Hockey Team was touring Spain to play matches in preparation for the FIH World League Round 2, to be held in New Delhi from 7 – 15 March, 2015. Playing five games at Valencia, two against Spain, one each against the two Dutch hockey clubs – GCHC and HDM and Germany, the Indian women were seen giving a tough fight to their opponents on the foreign turf prior to the upcoming FIH World League Round 2. Packed with more experience, bettered skills and elevated confidence the Indian eves arrive at New Delhi, today. The team was appreciated for their on-ground skills and team coordination as they dished out some noticeable performances at Spain.

Speaking on arrival, Coach C.R Kumar said, “I am very happy with the team’s performance as they played some really good game of hockey at Spain. The women team had fine coordination on the field as they created a number of scoring prospects for themselves along with restricting the opponents. The tour was a big success, providing new experience to the team as they even played two matches against the men from the Dutch hockey clubs and I am sure it will help the women considerable in the impending World League Round 2.”

Happy with the tour, Captain Ritu Rani said, “It was a good experience for us to play against different teams and it has provided us with much valuable experience. We got to know our strengths as well as our loopholes which we will definitely work upon before the commencement of the World League Round 2.”
