18 July 2016, New Delhi: Riding on the success after winning the EurAsia Cup in Yekatarinberg, Russia, the Indian Junior Men’s squad leaves for their Tour of England today. The team will take on the England Men’s Junior squad and the Scotland Senior Men national team in a seven-match high voltage contest starting July 22.

The team will be spearheaded by skipper Dipsan Tirkey who played a crucial role in the team’s success in Russia.

“I am pleased with the team’s results in Russia. As these tournaments are being played with the vision to succeed in the Junior Men World Cup at end of this year I would like to see the boys do better in terms of counter control and holding their nerve in the D. I expect to see tough competition in England and it will be a good exposure for the team” stated Coach Harendra Singh.

He further stated that while playing teams like England, the focus of the team will be to play an attacking game. “The players are upbeat after doing well in Russia but playing England in their home ground will be a different ball game. Our focus will be to play an attacking game,” he added

The squad includes a promising line-up with talented players such as Santa Singh, Parvinder Singh and dragflick expert Varun Kumar. “Since the Senior Men’s Team is also training at SAI Centre, Bengaluru, the players have been able to share the same dining table as their senior counterparts. They have spoken at length about certain match situations and they are hugely motivated by the Rio-bound players,” Coach Harendra Singh said.

Post the England Tour, the junior squad will get a break of two weeks before the players rejoin the camp in Sports Authority of India (SAI), South Centre in Bengaluru from 20 August.
