Defending Champions Railways, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy and Odisha entered the quarterfinals of 2nd Hockey India Senior Women National Championship, Bhopal by winning hard- fought matches of their respective pools here on Tuesday.

Railways registered their second consecutive win against Kerala 17- 1 in Pool A to qualify for the quarter-finals. Poonam Rani topped the score list with five goals followed by Vandana Katariya (4), Jasjeet Kaur (2), Anupa Barla (2), Soundarya Yendala (1),Ramneek Kaur (1), Yogita Bali (1) and Deep Grace Ekka (1) while Neethu Thambi scored the only goal for Kerala. In their earlier match played on Monday Railways beat Maharashtra 9-0.

Unbeaten Odisha topped Pool C with 5-0 win over Hockey Bhopal to enter the quarterfinals. Odisha who led 3-0 at the half time scored through Namita Toppo (2), Birajini Ekka (1), Nilima Minz (1) and Elin Lakra (1).

Ranjita scored three goals as the Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy raced to a 6-0 win against Chhattisgarh in concluding Pool E match to enter the quarterfinals. Ranjita secured a hat-trick while Kavita Vidyarthi,  Apoorva Vishwakarma and Ritusha Arya scored one goal each.

Chandigarh registered their second win against Uttrakhand 14-0 in Pool G league match.  Rajni topped the score list with four goals for Chandigarh followed by Reena Khokher (3), Shivani (2), Neeru (2), Harpreet Kaur (1), Nishi Chauhan (1) and Sangeeta (1). Chandigarh has to win its next game against Karnataka to qualify for quarterfinals. In another match of Pool G Karnataka beat Puducherry 15-0.

Tamil Nadu drew 2-2 with Rajasthan in Pool C match.

Pool C: Tamil Nadu 2 (M. Shenbagavalli 21; K. MythiliS. Karunanidhi 37) drew Rajasthan 2 (Meenu Kumari 47; Pooja Devanda 49).

Odisha 5 (Birajini Ekka 6; Namita Toppo 9, 51; Nilima Minz 17; Elin Lakra 41) beat Hockey Bhopal 0.

Pool E: MPHA 6 (Kavita Vidyarthi 11; Apoorva Vishwakarma 33; Ranjita 39, 41, 44; Ritusha Arya 60) beat Chhattisgarh 0.

Pool G: Karnataka 15 (Chaitra Korakuttira 10, 24, 32, 33; Thrupthi Mathramanda 13; Munirathnamma 18, 23; Balathimanahalli 27, 55, 56; Rashmi Padiyanda 26, 34, 51; Saira Dastagir 38, 62 ) beat Puducherry 0.

Chandigarh 14 (Shivani 3, 14; Rajni 12, 38, 47, 53; Reena Khokher 13, 22, 69; Neeru 15, 61; Harpreet Kaur 25; Nishi Chauhan 58; Sangeeta 69) beat Uttrakhand 0.

Hockey India congratulates PR Sreejesh on being appointed Co-Chair of the FIH Athletes Committee

The International Hockey Federation, on Wednesday, announced the appointment of the new FIH Athletes Committee, to be led by Co-Chairs Camila Caram of Chile and PR Sreejesh of India. While Camila Caram has been assigned Co-Chair and Athletes Committee Representative in the Executive Board, Indian Men's Hockey Team goalkeeper PR Sreejesh is the Co-Chair and he will lead the planning and meetings along with Caram.
