Lucknow, 6 December 2016: The practice match between India and The Netherlands on Monday was as good as the main event –the Uttar Pradesh Hockey Junior World Cup Men Lucknow 2016 — as there were hundreds of hockey fans who turned up to cheer their favourite team. Tuesday too saw several fans visit the stadium to catch some live action as teams such as England, New Zealand, Austria and Germany play practice matches.

With the Uttar Pradesh Hockey Junior World Cup Men Lucknow 2016 – set to kick off from 8th December 2016 which will see the worlds top junior mens teams begin their campaign including defending Champions Germany who play Spain, while India will take on Canada. Hockey fever seems to have begun in the city.

While some of the enthusiastic spectators are aspiring players themselves, some of the others were just sports lovers who came with their families. There were also customary selfies being taken with not just Indian players but also with some foreign players as well.

Lucknow for long has been a hockey loving city with international greats like Major Dhyan Chand and Mohammad Shahid who left a legacy behind and inspired millions of hockey buffs. This is the first ever international hockey event that will be played under flood lights in Uttar Pradesh.
