New Delhi, 28 February 2015: Hockey India today announced the Indian Women Team for FIH World League Round 2 which is scheduled to be played at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi from 7th March to 15th March 2015. The league featuring eight teams is divided in Pool A and Pool B.

The 18 member squad will be captained by the very proficient midfielder Ritu Rani who has to her credit of 193 International caps. Deepika, who has represented India in 138 matches will be her deputy. Also, to guard the nets under the bar will be goalkeeper Savita who has made several crucial saves for the team in the past.

 India is placed in Pool A with Poland, Ghana and Thailand while Malaysia, Russia, Kazakhistan and Singapore are placed in Pool B. India is slotted against Ghana in its opening match scheduled for 7 March 2015.

Speaking on the announcement of the team, Mr. Mushtaque Ahmad, Secretary General, Hockey India said, “This team is full of confidence and an urge to win. They proved this during the recent Spain tour where they gave Germany a tough time and beat them 2-1. Going by their present form I am sure the girls will continue their good show in the upcoming league and win. I wish them all the best.”

The matches of the FIH World League Round 2 (Women) will be telecast LIVE and exclusive on DD Sports.
