New Delhi, 25 October 2013: Hockey India today announced its Senior Women Hockey Team for the 3rd Asian Champions Trophy 2013 to be played at Kakamigahara, Japan from 2-9 November 2013.

Hockey India Selectors Mr. B P Govinda, Ms. Savitry Purty and Ms. Surinder Kaur, Mr. Roelant Oltmans, Director High Performance, Mr. Neil Hawgood, Chief Coach of the Senior Women Team & Scientific Advisor Mr. Matthew Tredrea alongwith Government Observer Harbinder Singh selected the list of 18 players and 6 standbys during the selection trials conducted at NSNIS Patiala on 11 October 2013.

The other participating teams in the 2013 tournament are China, Japan and Malaysia. India will open its campaign against China on 2 November followed by matches against Malaysia on 4 November and Japan on 7 November 2013.

The 18 member squad will be captained by midfielder Ritu Rani while midfielder Chanchan Devi will be the Vice-Captain.

The Senior Women Team camp is currently underway and commenced at NSNIS, Patiala from 11 October 2013 as preparations for this tournament. The team will depart for Japan on 29 October 2013.

The Senior Women Team won the bronze medal at the 8th Women’s Asia Cup held in Malaysia last month.
