ew Delhi, 18 Feb 2013: Team India started their wining campaign both in Women and Men’s tournament of the Hero Hockey World League Round 2 Delhi 2013 on Day 1 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium today.

Indian women’s team played attacking hockey and thrashed Kazakhstan 8-0 in their first match. India scored four goals in the first half through Jaspreet Kaur (8th min Penalty Corner & 21st min Penalty Corner), Rani (15th & 26th minute) to claim lead in the game.

In the second half of the game, India continued to score at regular interval and converted 4 goals through Rani (41st min), Jaspreet Kaur (54th min Penalty Corner and 70th minute Penalty Stroke). Jaspreet Kaur was adjudged Player of the Match for scoring four brilliant goals.

In the men’s hockey, the winning environment continued as India beat Fiji 16-0. In the one-sided match the first three goals come in quick succession through Penalty Corner (in the 4th, 5th and 11 minute of the game)

VR Raghunath and Rupinder Pal Singh scored two goals each. In the 18th minute of the game, India’s Nithin Thimmaiah scored the 4th goal of the match. Gurjinder Singh (21st Minute Penalty Corner) score his first international goal followed by Danish Mujtaba’s 28th min goal.

In the second half, India continued to play the attacking game and kept scoring goals. Danish Mujtaba (38th) VR Raghunath (42nd Penalty Corner), Manpreet Singh (50th) Malak Singh (51st) Chinglensana Singh Kangujam (53rd) Dharamvir Singh (55th) and Danish Mujtaba (59th). Malak Singh (63rd) scored his first international goal also and he along with Gurjinder Singh received cash prize of Rs 1 Lakh from Hockey India.

India’s Rupinder singh was adjudged Player-of-the-Match for his brilliant performance in the entire match and for scoring two goals.
