Bengaluru, 04 June 2019:  The Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team led by Mandeep Mor left on Tuesday evening from Bengaluru for the 8 Nation U-21 Tournament in Spain. The tournament scheduled to begin on 10 June 2019 features the Netherlands, Belgium, Great Britain, Austria, Australia, New Zealand, hosts Spain and India in the fray.

Grouped in a tough pool, the Indian Junior Men’s Team will begin their campaign on 10 June 2019 against the formidable Australian team in their first Group B match followed by the Netherlands on 11 June 2019. India will take on Spain in their third match on 13 June 2019.

“This U-21 tournament in Spain will be a very good exposure for the players especially the 14 players who come under the age criteria for the next Junior Men’s World Cup. As there are top hockey playing nations in the fray, this will give them an idea of what to expect in the Junior Men’s World Cup,” stated Coach Jude Felix.

He further added that team is well-prepared for this tournament where the focus was on fitness, speed and building on their attack during the month-long National Coaching Camp in SAI, Bengaluru. “This competition will be tough and challenging which is why it was for us to leave no stone unturned in our preparations. I would expect the team to finish at the top or at least on the podium,” Felix said.
