New Delhi, 27 September 2013: India won bronze medal in the 8th Women’s Asia Cup 2013 as they defeated China 5-4 via shoot out in the 3rd/4th place play-off played at the National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia today.

India who led 2-0 at halftime scored through brilliant field goals by Anuradha Thokchom in the 16th minute and Vandana Katariya in the 31st minute. China reduced the margin in the 50th minute through a field goal scored by Yan Yan. In the 64th minute China scored the equalizer through Wu Mengrong.

The two teams had ended 2-2 in the regulation time.

Anuradha Devi Thokchom’s stike handed India 5-4 lead in the shootout and secured India’s win. For India Anuradha Devi Thokchom scored twice and Ritu Rani scored once in the penalty shoot-out.
