India registered their first win against Australia 2-0 in their opening game of the 2nd Sultan of Johar Cup, Malaysia today.

After a goalless half India started the second half on a higher tempo scoring their first goal with the penalty corner converted by Sukhmanjit Singh in the 49th minute.

However Australia tried to equalize the score but Indian goalkeeper Sushant Tirkey denied any chance to the opponents.

Indian Forward Amon Mirash Tirkey made it 2-0 with well taken penalty corner a minute from time. Indian goalkeeper Sushant Tirkey was declared man of the match.

After beating last year’s finalist India will now meet Germany in their second match on Monday 12 November 2012.
