January 21, 2016, New Delhi: Hockey India, the apex body for hockey in India, today announced the inclusion of two new Hockey Academies as Academies Members of Hockey India, as training centres for the development of young hockey talent in India.

The Chandigarh Hockey Academy, an initiative by the Chandigarh administration, operates under the supervision of Dr. Sarita Malik, Director Sports cum Secretary, Chandigarh Hockey Academy. The academy which aims to promote young hockey talent from in and around Chandigarh is owned by The Administrator of the Union Territory, Chandigarh. The academy will operates out of the Chandigarh Hockey Stadium, sector 42.

The S.G.P.C Hockey Academy was founded in 2013 under the supervision of and guidance of five Olympians Brig. Harcharan Singh, S. Surinder Singh Sodhi, S.Ajitpal Singh, S.Pargat Singh and S.Rajpal Singh.

The academy is headed by S.Balwinder Singh. The institution since its inception on 2013 has been a host to a number of junior men tournaments. The academy is funded by the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar.
