New Delhi 5 March 2013: Hockey India congratulates Indian midfielder Sardar Singh for winning Asian Hockey Federation Player of the Year – Men  – Award for 2011 and Ritu Rani, Captain of Indian Women Hockey Team for winning AHF Player of the Year – Junior Women – Award for 2011. These awards were announced during the mid term Congress of the Asian Hockey Federation held in Kuala Lumpur on 2 March 2013.

In the recently concluded Hero Hockey World League Round 2, the Indian Men and Women teams have qualified for Round 3 under the Captaincy of Sardar Singh and Ritu Rani.

While congratulating both Sardar Singh and Ritu Rani, Hockey India Secretary General Dr Narinder Batra said its an honour that two of our players have been selected for the most prestigious awards of Asian Hockey and I hope more and more Indian players will win such awards in future.

Hockey India will be honouring the two players in the coming weeks at a function with press and media, where each player will presented the trophy, given by the Asian Hockey Federation, along with a cheque of Rs 1 Lakh each by Hockey India in recognition of this achievement.
