Nagaon, Assam 10th January, 2016:  National Championship 2016 (B Division) ended with a flurry of goals in the matches. First match of the day saw Assam Hockey beat Hockey Rajasthan by a score of 13-0 in the Pool B encounter. The second match between Hockey Bihar and Manipur Hockey in Pool D ended in favour of the former with a score of 4-1. The last encounter of the day in Pool D ended in a big win for Hockey Uttarakhand who defeated Hockey Puducherry by 8-0.

 Assam Hockey started the match on an attacking note scoring the first goal of the match in the 2nd minute. Assam Hockey continued their attacking intent in the first half and went on to score 4 more goals before half time. The second half of the match was a similar show and the Assam team kept on creating opportunities and scoring goals. The Rajasthan defence looked clueless and the match eventually ended at 13-0 in favour of Assam.

 The second match between Hockey Bihar and Manipur Hockey saw the domination of the former right from the beginning of the match. The first goal of the match came from the stick of Kajal Lakra in the 6th minute.  Bihar maintained the pressure in the first half scoring two more goals with the score at 3-0 at half-time.  The second half of the match was more balanced and the Manipur team got a ray of hope in the 48th minute from a penalty corner which was effectively converted. The Bihar team’s defence held strong for the rest of the half before the fourth goal was scored by Nisha Kumari on the 69th minute to end the game with a score line of 4-1 in favour of Hockey Bihar.

 The last match of the group stage between Hockey Uttarakhand and Hockey Puducherry saw another goal fest for the day. Hockey Uttarakhand opened the scoring at 15 minutes with a strike from Swati Kumari. Swati Kumari scored 4 more goals in the match taking her tally to five goals in the match. The match ended in a one sided affair for the Uttarakhand team who won by a margin of 8-0.
