Kaliabor (Assam), 6 February 2018: The Final match of the 8th Hockey India Sub Junior (Women) National Championship 2018 (B Division) took place here today which saw Assam Hockey beat Hockey Coorg by a commanding scoreline of 4-0. Whereas, it was Hockey Uttarakhand who defeated Vidarbha Hockey Association by a margin of 6-1 in the 3rd/4th classification match.

In the Final match, Assam Hockey produced a convincing attacking display to snatch a 4-0 victory over Hockey Coorg. The match saw Assam Hockey start the match on the front foot as they made several goal-scoring chances in the opening 20 minutes while Hockey Coorg struggled to match their opponent’s pace. Assam Hockey were rewarded for their combined team effort as they took the lead in the 20th minute, when Maxima Xalxo converted an excellent field goal. In the 35th minute, Assam Hockey were on target again as they extended their lead to 2-0 with Munmuni Das finding the back of the net. The second half belonged to Assam Hockey’s Maxima Xalxo as she converted a Penalty Corner in the 41st minute and then scored a field-goal in the 59th minute to complete her hat-trick and give her team a 4-0 victory.

In the 3rd/4th classification match, it was Hockey Uttarakhand who put up an excellent team performance as they scored a 6-1 victory over Vidarbha Hockey Association. Hockey Uttarakhand started the match well as they scored a goal in the 1st minute through Khushi Katariya and then extended the lead to 2-0 through Swati’s field goal in the 10th minute. Vidarbha Hockey Association failed to defend well as they conceded yet another goal before half-time when Shruti Mamgain found the back of the net in the 18th minute. The second half started on the quiet-note for both the teams as they failed to convert their chances. However, it was Vidarbha Hockey Association who scored their first goal of the match when they scored in the 56th minute through Vaishnavi Gulhane. However, Hockey Uttarakhand maintained their lead as they scored three more goals in the last seven minutes to wrap up a comfortable 6-1 win. The goals in the second half for Hockey Uttarakhand were scored by Shruti Mamgain (63′), Hema Singh Bisht (67′) and Prachi (69′).
