Chennai, 07 January 2019: The hockey domestic season for this year is all set to kick off with the 9th Hockey India Senior National Hockey Championship 2019 (Men) B Division starting in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 7 January.

 

The 14-day event will see 41 teams take part and the teams are divided into eight pools. In Pool A, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, Hockey Uttrakhand, Telangana Hockey, Hockey Bihar and Hockey Maharashtra will vie to finish on top of the Pool to find a place in the quarter final.

 

In Pool B, Hockey Jharkhand, SashastraSeemaBal, Manipur Hockey, Hockey Jammu & Kashmir, Hockey Andaman & Nicobar will compete against each other in the Pool stage while Pool C includes Central Secretariat who had finished third last year, Hockey Andhra Pradesh, Hockey Madhya Pradesh, Hockey Mizoram and Hockey Gujarat.

 

In Pool D, Bengaluru Hockey Association who had finished fourth last year, Major Port Sports Control Board, Chhattisgarh Hockey, Tripura Hockey and Andhra Hockey Association will face-off against each other. Pool E will see Delhi Hockey, Bengal Hockey Association, Kerala Hockey, Hockey Rajasthan, Hockey Patiala and Pool F will include Food Corporation of India, Sports Authority of Gujarat- Hockey Academy, Hockey Himachal, Vidarbha Hockey Association, Dadra& Nagar Haveli Hockey Association.

 

Pool G features Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu, Hockey Puducherry, Assam Hockey, Central Industrial Security Force and Hockey Him. In Pool H, Hockey Coorg, Sports Authority of India, Hockey Madhya Bharat, Goans Hockey, Steel Plant Sports Board and All India Police Sports Control Board will be in action in the Round Robin Stage.

 

The 9th Hockey India Senior National Hockey Championship 2019 (Men) B Division will also feature some of the top National Team players including India’s ace goalkeeper PR Sreejesh turning out for their respective teams and add to the excitement of the tournament.
